Tongi is a large city in the province of Gazipur, located about 15 miles north from Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh. The town is famous with its large Export Processing Zones (EPZ), where plenty of small companies and businesses exist, giving jobs to a great number of Tongi residents. There are about 350,000 people are residing in the city. Tongi has a long and interesting history, it played a role in important battles of the Middle ages, and an old fort built in the 17th century witnessed most of those.
